Practical Emotional Intelligence Skills

This FREE online course provides advanced skills to maximise your effectiveness and impact at work. Emotional Intelligence is emerging as the single most effective business skill of the 21st century. Practical Emotional Intelligence Skills is full of practical techniques and will enable you to improve your Emotional Intelligence in eight key areas.

Course details

In this course, you’ll study eight units. Here’s a taste of what you’ll find out:

Unit one: Accelerated learning

  • The ability to learn more quickly and flexibly is extremely valuable and closely linked to your emotions and feelings. This unit will introduce techniques that you can use to harness the power of left and right brain thinking and includes speed- reading techniques for fast results.

Unit two: Innovation

  • Understand your creative preferences and your ability to generate innovative responses to business and personal problems. This unit gives you practical techniques to break old habits and develop new ways of generating ideas.

Unit three: Self-awareness

  • Be more effective at work by really understanding your personal strengths and weaknesses. You’ll do a self-assessment of your strengths, weaknesses, personal beliefs and feelings and learn how this links to your level of focus upon self-improvement.

Unit four: Intuition

  • This unit focuses upon the degree to which you use instincts, hunches and feelings (combined with facts) when making decisions. You’ll explore intuitive feeling skills and learn how to develop the confidence to believe in your gut reactions.

Unit five: Emotional management

  • Learn how to understand and differentiate your emotions and how to manage the impact your emotions have on others. In this unit you will identify triggers to negative emotions and learn how to develop positive alternative responses.

Unit six: Goal orientation

  • In this unit the emphasis is on your desire to achieve, your ability to persist and the energy you have to see things through. You’ll work through exercises that will help you to identify what truly motivates you to have drive and energy.

Unit seven: Empathy

  • This unit will help you to take a measure of your ability to show an interest in others, to listen to them and to ‘feel their feelings’. You will find out how to tune in to non-verbal cues and ‘read’ people better.

Unit eight: Social skills

  • Your social skills will cover a wide range of areas. This unit focuses upon building relationships and communicating. You’ll learn how to build relationships based on deeper values in order to develop real trust.
